Research and Advisory Services in Support of Health System Performance Tracking, Delivery System Reform and Breakthrough

Commonwealth Fund support is proposed to contract with Issues Research, Inc., for the full-time services of Douglas McCarthy, who since January 2014 has overseen the team producing the Fund’s national, state, and local health system scorecards. In addition to the scorecards, the team, along with other staff, develops data briefs, interactive features, and infographics for the Fund. McCarthy also leads a case study team that profiles innovators in health care delivery. In 2015, McCarthy and colleagues will: 1) produce the Fund’s second local health system scorecard; 2) develop a new scorecard focusing on high-need, high-cost populations; 3) update the Fund’s online state data center; and 4) prepare related data briefs, interactive features, and infographics. McCarthy and the case study team also will convene a panel of executives from leading health care organizations to track how they are innovating within rapidly evolving local environments.
