In November 2019, the Health Care Cost Institute (HCCI) announced a new data sharing partnership with Blue Health Intelligence (BHI) which will contribute an additional 45 million covered lives to the HCCI dataset. This will restore HCCI’s data resource, but the partnership with BHI requires HCCI to incur, for the first time, substantial costs related to data acquisition, data aggregation, and hosting expenses. Total costs will be approximately $3 million per year for 2020-2022. HCCI is seeking financial support to help cover the $2 million per year data acquisition costs and $1 million in infrastructure costs. Philanthropic support in the near-term will expand HCCI’s database while giving them time to generate a new business model to ensure their survival.
