The authorization will support two to three grants over the next 12 months. Priority areas for grantmaking will initially include the following:
* Documenting and tracking spending and price trends and identifying key drivers.
* Assisting federal and state agencies in their role as pharmaceutical purchasers.
* Comparing prices and policies internationally.
* Documenting industry practices that affect price transparency for purchasers and consumers.
* Advancing policy options related to drug patents and drug exclusivity.
Projects funded by this appropriation will position the Fund as a source of objective information about pharmaceutical spending and contribute to the national dialogue around this issue.
