Executive Vice President's Report from the 1997 Annual Report
A foundation has two primary management responsibilities: managing its programs well, to advance its philanthropic mission, and managing its endowment well, to produce funds for programs. This report addresses aspects of both responsibilities. First, it reviews the management of the Fund's endowment, including the investment strategy and long-term results. It then presents an analysis of foundation communications programs, drawn from work undertaken during the year to help inform deliberations by the Fund's board of directors on the foundation's own communications activities.
