This project is a modification for an existing grant with Westat to support the Fund’s Health System Scorecard project. The Medicare Data Hub will be an online resource housed on the Fund’s website that will contain visual representations of Medicare information and serve as a hub for Fund-supported research products on Medicare. Topic areas for graphs will include Medicare’s open enrollment, plan options and features, federal spending, beneficiary out-of-pocket spending, quality of care, and more. The first phase of the project will focus on charts and other data visualizations characterizing Medicare’s 2020 open enrollment and will be released to coincide with the open enrollment period. Following this, a second wave of content will be released relating to broader descriptive data, including sociodemographic characteristics and payment and budget information. Data will come from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) Landscape Source files and supplemented as need with Medicare enrollment sources. Depending on research needs, data can also be used from CMS’ Limited Data Set or the Medical Panel Expenditure Survey.
