Strategic Counsel, Intel, and Education Engagement on Issues Related to Behavioral and Public Health

The Horizon team will provide the Fund and its grantees with timely intelligence, strategic counsel, and education of decisionmakers to maximize the Fund’s understanding and reach on public health and behavioral health issues. Activities will include: 1. Intelligence gathering: identification of pressing public health and behavioral health topics for key decision-makers; policy analysis of existing and emerging proposals; tracking and reporting on briefings, hearings, markups, and other relevant events. 2. Strategic counsel: translation of intelligence into actionable guidance, to allow the Fund and related grantees to inform policy activities on public health and behavioral health issues. 3. Support for policymaker education: provide support to Fund staff seeking to educate and inform policymakers in the areas of public health and behavioral health. 4. Blogs: publication of two blogs — one on public health, one on behavioral health policy, that may serve to inform policy decisions and connect Fund-supported research with timely policy deliberations. Across all activities, the Horizon team will split their time evenly between public health and behavioral health.
