This project supports two separate but complementary projects developed by STAT with input from the Fund. The first is a nine-month series of stories on how racism and bias are manifested in medicine, led by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Usha Lee McFarling. The second is a podcast that would explore the topic of health equity from a systems approach, discussing the policies that lead to pervasive and entrenched racial disparities in the health care system, and solutions for creating an equitable — and antiracist — health system.
