In order to build momentum and catalyze action among state employee health plans (SEHPs), the project will create a learning collaborative of state officials that will facilitate peer-to-peer learning and assess and expand cost-containment initiatives. Participating states will meet regularly for strategic discussions of cost-control option development, challenges implementing change, examples of success, and best practices. The collaborative will culminate with an in-person conference in 2021 that will leave states primed for action. The collaboration will be supported by separately funded work with Georgetown University’s Center for Health Insurance Reforms (CHIR) on the current SEHP landscape and cost containment efforts.
