On December 1, 2009, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m., E.T., the National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) will host a Commonwealth Fund–supported webinar for states about Medicare's proposed "Advanced Primary Care" demonstration.

For the 10 or more states with multi-payer medical home initiatives, Medicare involvement is an exciting proposition. The addition of Medicare as a payer may trigger statewide primary care delivery system reform by involving more practices, payers, and patients.

During the webinar, NASHP will facilitate a discussion about several multi-payer medical home initiatives under way or in development. States can see how they measure up against Medicare's Advanced Primary Care demonstration criteria, and provide feedback to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on the RFP development for the demonstration program.

The webinar speakers, who will take questions from participants, include: Catherine Harrison, project manager, Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Service; Lisa Letourneau, executive director, Maine Quality Counts; Phil Magistro, deputy director, Pennsylvania Governor’s Office of Health Care Reform; Jeff Schiff, Medicaid medical director, Minnesota Department of Human Services; Julie Schilz, manager, Improving Performance in Practice Program and Colorado Multi-Stakeholder Patient Centered Medical Home Pilot, Colorado Clinical Guidelines Collaborative; Ben Steffen, director, information services and analysis, Maryland Health Care Commission; and Lisa Dulsky Watkins, M.D., assistant director, Vermont Blueprint for Health, Vermont Department of Health.

To register, visit the NASHP Web site at: <a href="http://video.webcasts.com/events/pmny001/viewer/index.jsp?eventid=33085…; target="_blank">http://video.webcasts.com/events/pmny001/viewer/index.jsp?eventid=33085…;.
