Washington, D.C. Event to Feature HHS Office of Health Reform Director Jeanne Lambrew; Americans Sharing How They Have Struggled in the Current Health Care System; New Commonwealth Fund Report Detailing How Health Reform Can Benefit Americans

On June 11, 2009, in Washington, DC, The Commonwealth Fund and Consumers Union will host a joint event to highlight the need for health reform that will provide security and stability for millions of people hurt by America’s broken health care system—the uninsured, those unable to afford the care they need, and families deep in debt due to unmanageable health care bills. This event will focus on Americans struggling with the high cost of health care and describe how a patient-centered health care system will make a difference for them.

At the event, Jeanne Lambrew, director of the Office of Health Reform at the Department of Health and Human Services, will speak to the importance of making sure that health care works for Americans, and consumers from across the country will describe the challenges they face getting the health care they need. Commonwealth Fund researchers will present findings from a new report about how health care reform that ensures affordable health insurance coverage for all will benefit the millions without coverage, the underinsured, people who have difficulty paying medical bills, and small business employees who now pay higher premiums than employees in large businesses for similar benefits.

When:
Thursday, June 11, 2009, 12:00 p.m. (box lunch will be available at 11:45 a.m.)

Where:
The Columbus Club, Union Station, Washington, DC

Who:
Jeanne Lambrew, Director, Office of Health Reform, Department of Health and Human Services
Karen Davis, President, The Commonwealth Fund
Jim Guest, President and CEO, Consumers Union
Sara Collins, Assistant Vice President, The Commonwealth Fund
DeAnn Friedholm, Director Health Reform Campaign, Consumers Union

RSVP:
RSVP for this event online at ht…
