There is lots of discussion in professional circles about the challenges of implementing quality improvement initiatives in medicine, particularly about how to get physicians to embrace such efforts more widely. The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Foundation has released a DVD, "Putting Quality into Practice," which features the perspectives of physicians who were early adopters of quality improvement initiatives.

In collaboration with the National Committee for Quality Assurance and with funding from The Commonwealth Fund, the ABIM Foundation interviewed 39 physicians in solo and group practices who have successfully introduced systematic quality improvements. In the DVD, the physicians describe how the new quality measures have improved patient care and efficiency in their practices.

To order a free copy of the DVD, visit the ABIM Foundation's Web site at http://www.abimfoundation…; or call Helen Egner at 215-446-3530.
