<p>Twelve years ago, anthropologist Susan Sered traveled around the United States talking to individuals and families who were living without the security of health insurance. Last year, Sered and videographer Adam Cohen visited some of those same men and women to hear how they were faring in the era of the Affordable Care Act. </p><p>The five formerly uninsured Illinois residents they met with now have access to affordable care through Medicaid or employer-sponsored plans. But the lasting impact of untreated health problems and medical debt persists.</p>
