The Dose, Episode 8: How the Individual Mandate Makes People More Free

eAlert

On today’s episode of The Dose, host Shanoor Seervai talks to Don Moulds, executive vice president for programs at the Commonwealth Fund, about what freedom means when it comes to health care.

Moulds makes the case that when Congress eliminated the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate, which requires that people have health insurance, it actually restricted Americans’ freedom. Having health insurance, he says, frees us from the fear that we may not be able to get the care we need if we get sick.
