ACA Marketplace Experiences, Challenges Are Focus of House Testimony by Commonwealth Fund’s Sara Collins

<p>In invited testimony today before a key House of Representatives health subcommittee, The Commonwealth Fund’s Sara R. Collins reviewed evidence on the experiences of consumers enrolled in marketplace plans and Medicaid, the competitiveness and stability of the marketplaces, and ongoing implementation challenges.</p><p>Collins, a health economist who leads the Fund’s Health Care Coverage and Access program, provided data showing that the Affordable Care Act’s marketplaces “are competitive and appear to be producing value for consumers.” She also discussed the potential effects of three congressional bills aimed at addressing recent concerns about reaching the remaining uninsured who are eligible for ACA coverage, achieving balanced risk pools in the marketplaces, and ensuring plan affordability and access to high-value care.</p>
