Work Requirements and Cost-Sharing in Medicaid: Evaluation of Southern State Waiver Programs, Year 2

This project will build on earlier findings to examine the ongoing implications of disenrollment from Medicaid as a result of work requirements. It aims to address key questions about the long-term effects of such requirements: What are the effects of disenrollment on health care access and self-reported health in Arkansas? What share of disenrolled beneficiaries will regain coverage, and from what sources (e.g., employer, private insurance, Medicaid)? What will be the effects, if any, on employment? The survey also will ask about participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which has already implemented work requirements, since meeting SNAP requirements is one way to be exempted from Medicaid’s work requirements. The survey firm SSRS will interview individuals in Kentucky, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
