This project aims to address the need for timely information in priority areas of value-based reform. It will provide state Medicaid directors and federal policymakers with regular, actionable intelligence on state progress, effective strategies, emerging barriers, and early outcomes. Staff with the National Association of State Medicaid Directors (NAMD) will form two “sentinel” state groups that will provide a potent venue for state-to-state learning while collecting timely information for state and federal officials. The first group sentinel group will focus on improving behavioral health care issues, and the second will likely focus on long-term services and supports. Information gleaned from these groups will be shared with policymakers through a variety of means, including teleconferences and “innovation snapshots.”
By delivering actionable information on key areas of Medicaid transformation to state policymakers and the incoming presidential administration, this project will contribute to efforts to promote the delivery of higher-quality, higher-value services to beneficiaries. NAMD intends to measure the value of the project for Medicaid directors and their senior staff through a set of qualitative and quantitative metrics, such as participation in state calls and informational interviews.
