This project aims to harness the momentum from the recent Medicaid expansion referendum victories in Missouri and Oklahoma and leverage funding offered in the American Rescue Plan to support state-level Medicaid expansion. Families USA will take a two-track approach. The first track will provide implementation and policy support to partners and policymakers to effectively implement the potential legislation for federal coverage in nonexpansion states. The second track continues Families USA’s work in three nonexpansion states — Alabama, South Dakota, and Wyoming — that have pathways to expand through executive action, legislation, or ballot initiative. Families USA will provide: 1) rapid-response technical assistance; 2) in-depth legal and policy analysis; and 3) dissemination of facts around the value of Medicaid expansion.
