Supplemental funding will cover the staff time needed for the team to analyze the TAF OT file and likely allow excluded states back in the SMM analyses. The additional analytic time will go toward several analytic subtasks, including developing approaches to identify dates of delivery in the OT file, removing outcomes of pregnancy that did not result in a live birth in the OT file, de-duplicating deliveries in the OT and inpatient files, defining a period over which to assess SMM in the OT file if delivery dates are not clear, and exploring how global billing codes may affect the specificity of delivery identification in the OT file. The team will also develop a standard approach to identifying births in TAF across the inpatient and OT files and publish a methods brief to highlight best practices.
