In response to the growing size and scope of federal initiatives to reform Medicaid, the National Association of Medicaid Directors (NAMD) proposes to establish a national network to help its 56 member states and territories confront the common challenges they face. Each month, program directors participating in the Medicaid Reform Network will convene by phone or webinar to address a specific reform-related issue—for example, rapid-cycle evaluation and improvement strategies, nontraditional workforce payment incentives, or quality improvement. After each session, NAMD staff will produce a summary memo for all state policymakers. An additional in-person meeting will help catalyze the group’s work and build relation-ships. The network’s activities will be guided by a small advisory group comprising state Medicaid directors with experience in leading substantial reform efforts.
