AcademyHealth will launch a two-year Medicaid Data Learning Network (MDLN) that will provide a forum for TAF researchers to share learnings about the dataset. In year one, the MDLN will comprise up to 10 academic health services research teams that are actively working with TAF data, with the goal of addressing key challenges, identifying best practices, and sharing learnings with the broader health services research community. The project team will establish an MDLN Advisory Group to provide contextual expertise and programming input as needed, which will include representatives from state Medicaid programs, the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE), Mathematica, and AcademyHealth’s Medicaid Outcomes Distributed Research Network (MODRN) Data Coordinating Center. In year two, the MDLN will broaden its network to include research teams at nonacademic organizations, will explore additional questions and solutions in working with TAF data, and will produce deliverables focused on improving the usability of TAF data.
