Gulf States Newsroom intends to hire a reporter focusing on issues of women’s health and reproductive care over 12 months. Engaging with local communities, the reporter will explore topics such as: how the loss of reproductive rights can affect health outcomes like infant mortality and HIV rates; how reduced access to necessary health care can endanger pregnant women at risk for ectopic pregnancy, fetal anomalies, or miscarriages; and how people of color, poor people, and other often marginalized groups are more likely to bear the brunt of limits placed on health care access, and how this affects overall well-being in the region.
