The African American Research Collaborative (AARC) will conduct three focus groups and 15 one-on-one interviews with executive and clinical leaders of federally qualified health centers (FQHCs). Key topics they will explore include: changes happening at FQHCs, in terms of practices and management, since the 2018 survey; the primary challenges health centers now face, particularly due to the COVID-19 pandemic; efforts to advance equity and combat bias; rhe unique role FQHCs play in their community; and workforce challenges, including stress and the mental health burdens. AARC will seek to include a diverse, representative group of FQHCs, which they will identify through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) database and through a partnership with National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) to assist with recruitment.
