Using claims and clinical records data from the UNC Senior Alliance accountable care organization (ACO), a Next Generation ACO Model, the project team will seek to understand the impact of the nonemergency medical transportation benefit on adults with complex needs. The specific aims of the project include: 1) determining association between transportation program participation, health care utilization, and quality of care; 2) determining the financial return on investment of the transportation program, and comparing estimates to results obtained using the Commonwealth Fund’s ROI calculator; and 3) exploring changes in patient-reported outcomes related to the transportation program.
