The project will collect and synthesize global responses to workforce shortages through a comprehensive literature review and interviews with international experts working directly to create and implement solutions. In phase one, a research framework will be developed based on a U.S.-focused literature search. This framework will seek to characterize types of burnout experienced by inpatient clinical health care workers during the pandemic. The second phase of the project will comprise interviews with international experts in addressing workforce burnout and seek to provide solutions to the defined burnout types. Potential international solutions may vary but will include individual-level and system-based interventions.
