This grant will support Martha Hostetter of Pear Tree Communications to provide editorial support to the Fund's Communications team and Delivery System Reform program. It covers 50 percent of her time. The project will encompass two types of activities:

  • Ongoing work for Communications, including: 1) editing Fund reports, issue briefs, and blog posts; 2) writing journal article summaries; 3) publishing materials using the content management system and 4) providing support to Christine Haran. It also includes development of the Commonwealth Fund Connection newsletter and authoring of multimedia essays and other web content, and providing strategic advice and project management for creation of new web features.
  • Research, writing, and editing four issues of Transforming Care, a quarterly publication that showcases innovative approaches to delivery system reform. For each issue, Hostetter will partner with Sarah Klein, the editor, to: 1) identify and research the topic; 2) conduct 10 to 12 interviews with experts; and 3) write the feature article, case study, and/or Q&A. She also will oversee the review process among Fund staff, editorial advisors, and interviewees, produce the newsletter, and help promote it.

Fund support will enable Martha Hostetter of Pear Tree Communications to partner with the Communications team to ensure publications are written and edited to a high standard, timely, and widely disseminated to key audiences. It also will provide support for the publication of Transforming Care, which has served as a vehicle for Delivery System Reform program staff to investigate promising care delivery models. The publication continues to grow its subscriber base and attract considerable attention via social media.
