Building in part on previous Commonwealth Fund–supported research on pharmaceutical reference pricing and Germany’s drug value assessment system as implemented in 2011, the project team will develop a U.S. framework for linking pharmaceutical prices to comparative performance. The team will study how drug assessments are translated into prices and used in price negotiations. This work will be based on extensive interviews and case studies, advisory board meetings, site visits, and follow‐up interviews. The learnings will be widely disseminated through activities such as a roundtable discussion between German and U.S. payers, a Washington policy briefing, presentations to public and private payer associations, and a media teleconference.
