Building on their activities in previous years, NCSL will provide in-person educational opportunities along with a variety of health policy resources for state legislators and their staff. Both NCSL and The Commonwealth Fund will sponsor sessions at the 2016 December Capitol Forum and 2017 August Legislative Summit, as well as a preconference at the 2017 December Capitol Forum. There will also be a seminar for professional legislative staff. Agendas for all sessions are developed with Fund input. Fund support will help NCSL maintain its legislative tracking database, respond to inquiries from state legislators, and disseminate publications, including a series of blog posts.
Fund support for NCSL enables the organization to assist state legislators in making informed policy to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their health systems. The project targets all state legislators and their legislative staff, with a special focus on the approximately 3,000 members most directly involved in health policy making.
