The Urban Institute and London School of Economics and Political Science will partner to produce a series of publications that illuminate cross-country differences in the patient care delivery process. The primary focus of this work is to better understand how patients move through the health care system. For each selected care condition — maternity care, COVID-19, and hip replacement (to be confirmed at the project outset) — the research team will work with Harkness Fellows (both current and Senior Fellows) to collect structured information in selected countries (the Commonwealth Fund’s 11 core countries plus Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan where possible) and complete care profiles for the condition. The team will then analyze these to identify similarities and differences in care pathways.
