The next phase of work for the Commonwealth Fund Commission on a National Public Health System will include four major activities: 1) Technical assistance: In coordination with the Fund and its advisors, the project team will educate federal policymakers on opportunities to align legislation and administrative action with key recommendations from the report. 2) Written pieces: The team will maintain the drumbeat for the recommendations by coordinating contributions by commissioners, staff, and others to newspapers and medical journals, and by soliciting/reviewing blog post submissions from a diverse set of voices for a Fund-sponsored series in Health Affairs. 3) Community trust: Anne Morris Reid will lead efforts to develop an agenda that identifies pathways and strategies that build community trust through active engagement with the public health system. This will include convening relevant stakeholders to discuss how new federal funding for public health infrastructure can be used to support partnerships between public health departments and community-based organizations. 4) Coordination of foundations: Through George Washington University’s Funders Forum on Accountable Health, Jeff Levi will lead ongoing conversations with key health foundations to help align foundation efforts with the core report recommendations.
