The Affordable Care Act is fundamentally changing the way Americans gain health insurance by creating new paths to coverage and improving existing sources. But given the time lag of federal survey data, surveys by private organizations like the Commonwealth Fund continue to play an important role in providing up-to-date information on Americans’ experiences with ACA insurance and people’s use of their coverage to access health care. Since 2013 the Fund’s series of Tracking Surveys has helped inform policymakers and the media about the law’s effects on coverage and access. In the 2015 installment, most newly insured adults reported that they had previously lacked coverage for long periods of time and are getting care they say they could not have afforded before. This small grant would cover the costs of additional work requested by the Commonwealth Fund in Wave 3 of the Tracking survey, fielded in March-May 2015.
