Health care has emerged as one of the top issues in the 2020 presidential election, at times dominating the Democratic debates and prompting many candidates to develop sweeping approaches to expanding health coverage, reducing health care costs, and improving health care. It is certain to remain a top issue throughout the caucuses and primaries and the lead-up to the general election. To track public sentiment on a range of health care issues, the Commonwealth Fund will field a survey at up to three points during 2020.
