This project will: 1) provide technical assistance to community-based organizations (CBOs) led by persons of color to help them access federal funding to implement maternal health programs for Black and brown birthing people; 2) facilitate a consultative process between relevant government agencies and maternal health CBOs, offering the latter guidance on establishing meeting cadence and creating agendas, for example; 3) develop leaders of color within the CBO sector; and 4) monitor the implementation of policy solutions and maternal health investments. In year 1, the team will leverage its relationships with various CBOs to provide technical assistance to those interested in receiving federal funding. Lessons and insights gathered will be shared with federal leaders who have made community engagement a top priority. In year 2, lessons learned from the first year will be disseminated to a wider audience, including policymakers and maternal health advocates.
