This project, cofunded with the California Healthcare Foundation, will produce the second season of the Birthright podcast, which will comprise 10 episodes. The podcast will be hosted by award-winning journalist and author Kimberly Seals Allers and will contribute to the Black maternal health and birthing ecosystem by providing well-researched topics and nonfiction narratives about positive Black birthing experiences. These narratives aim to buffer, but not dismiss, the negative narratives surrounding traumatic birthing experiences, in hopes that Black women and birthing people will be inspired and empowered through positive narratives surrounding Black birth and healing. Narratives from both seasons 1 and 2 will be analyzed and transformed into a webinar and conference abstract for maternal and child health physicians and professionals.
