Based on the enthusiasm expressed by delivery system leaders, Ideas42 proposes to work with three healthcare providers to identify problems amenable to a behavioral design approach and select one problem as an initial target for pilot testing. The process would entail a one-day site visit including a “Behavioral Science 101” training, a thorough “co-workshopping” and behavioral mapping of the problem with stakeholders, and interviews with key informants at each potential implementing partner to describe the environment and context of the organization. This work would allow for the creation of more robust materials to demonstrate the types of problems that would be suitable to behavioral design within a healthcare provider and give a flavor of the behavioral diagnosis and design process. It would also help providers interested in a behavioral design team to understand the level of initiative and commitment necessary from the provider’s perspective and allow a light stress test of execution capacity.
