Glied’s team will continue to provide programming and data support for Fund staff and grantee research related to health care coverage and access trends, using the Current Population Survey, National Health Interview Survey, Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey, Medical Expenditure Panel Survey, and other publicly available datasets. In addition, the team will undertake research comparing the experiences of the newly Medicaid insured to the uninsured and to people with private insurance, focusing on financial security, out-of-pocket spending, and access to and use of services. Glied will also explore alternative private health plan designs that might better protect low- and moderate-income households with fluctuating assets. Policymakers and key stakeholders will gain a better understanding of Medicaid’s value to low-income families as well as possible ways to reduce cost-sharing in private insurance for low- and moderate-income families. The team will support Fund staff and grantees through analysis of federal surveys.
