As the major health insurance provisions of the Affordable Care Act took effect, Sherry Glied’s quantitative research has yielded important insights into the revenue implications for states that have decided not to expand Medicaid, the effect of the employer coverage mandate on the U.S. workforce, and the law’s effect on health care use. Her research team has also contributed data programming and analysis for Commonwealth Fund reports on the underinsured and insurance premium trends across states. Under this proposed new grant, Glied’s research will focus on such topics as the effects of the ACA on consumer out-of-pocket spending and the characteristics of the uninsured who remain. The research team also will continue to provide the Fund with data support.
