New Zealand Plans to Establish National Health Innovation Hub

The New Zealand government has launched a plan to establish a national health innovation hub that will better link the health technology sector and the health service. Currently, the health technology industry generates NZ$1.8 billion annually in New Zealand, and the new hub will allow greater input from clinicians and companies into potential businesses, products, and services that could benefit the health sector.

Companies that focus on health technology innovations will also have greater access to the providers of the services in order to better tailor the projects and products to their needs. The hub is projected to cost around NZ$24 million over a five year span, NZ$3 million of which will be contributed by the government with the rest coming from a mix of private and public sources.
