Health Minister Marisol Touraine, along with the National Council of Emergency Hospitals, is moving forward on the commitments President François Hollande made during his campaign to 1) guarantee every citizen access to urgent care in less than 30 minutes, and 2) reduce traffic and congestion in emergency services.
To achieve these goals, a variety of measures has been introduced, including putting more advanced emergency mobile vehicles into the field, greater access to after-hours care from general practitioners to avoid emergency room visits, and greater cooperation between emergency service providers to insure all regions have coverage.
