The operating costs of providing various medical home services were the subject of a Commonwealth Fund-supported study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (June 24, 2012). The researchers, who undertook the study to inform decisions about medical home implementation and incentive design, argue that "[p]ayment for the medical home should be evidence-based and grounded in observations of the actual costs that accrue to each stakeholder."
