An analysis of primary care practices that provide after-hours care (Journal of General Internal Medicine, June 1, 2012) conducted by Commonwealth Fund–supported researchers found that success in delivering care at nights and on weekends was closely linked to physician buy-in, effective communication bolstered by electronic health records, and a commitment to improving access and continuity.
