An October 22 forum sponsored by the Kaiser Permanente Institute for Health Policy, Council of Accountable Physician Practices, and Brandeis University will explore how health care organizations can build the capacity needed to provide accountable care. The forum will feature results from a Commonwealth Fund–supported survey of organized medical groups that gauged the extent to which these groups currently participate in risk-bearing financial arrangements, such as capitation; the operational differences between risk-bearing groups and those paid primarily through fee-for-service arrangements; and the perceived barriers to increasing revenue through alternative payment approaches.
