Community Dialysis House Gives Patients Treatment Flexibility

Auckland, New Zealand's biggest city, opened a new community dialysis house in June. The Calvert House is accessible to patients who have renal disease and need regular dialysis treatments. Patients are given a key to the house, which is unstaffed and has 10 machines that patients are able to use on their own. This arrangement gives patients flexibility in fitting the long treatment into their own schedules. There are five other community dialysis facilities across New Zealand, and three more are set to open soon.
