Ontario Pledges $222 Million to Curb Opioid Crisis

Ontario has announced an additional Can$222 million over two-and-a-half years to help fight the province’s growing opioid crisis. In 2016, the number of opioid-related overdoses in Ontario was up 19 percent relative to the previous year. The funds will expand the number of harm-reduction sites and addiction clinics across the province, in addition to expanding availability of the overdose-reversal medication, Naloxone. An array of measures has been introduced in Ontario over the past two years to address opioid addiction and overdose.
