Ontario to Launch Universal Prescription Drug Program for Children

Ontario will become the first province in Canada to provide universal drug coverage to children and youth as part of its provincial health care system. Starting in January 2018, children and youth under the age of 24 will receive their prescription medications free of charge, simply by presenting their Ontario Health Card. The province is investing $465 million in the program, which will cover more than 4,400 drugs.
