New German Guidelines on Long-Term Care Staffing

A recent report funded by the Federal Ministry of Health identified best practices for managing the long-term care workforce in Germany. The report identified 14 practices, including: predictable working hours and opportunities for breaks; salaries matched to the worker’s level of experience; availability of continuing education;and a reasonable administrative burden. The Ministry commissioned the study to support recent initiatives to strengthen long-term care.
