Norway’s New Law Bans Advertising on Tobacco Products

Norway is following the example of Australia, the United Kingdom, France, and Ireland in banning all promotion or advertising in the packaging and labeling of tobacco products. Its recent law will prohibit use of logos, colors, or other branding on tobacco products in an effort to make them seem less glamorous, particularly to youth. The law builds on a World Health Organization campaign that has found such an approach is linked to reductions in tobacco use.
