Drug Company Payment Transparency Considered in Canada

After 10 pharmaceutical companies voluntarily revealed that they had paid nearly $50 million to Canadian health care professionals in 2016, some government officials began calling for stronger transparency laws for payments made to doctors. In the U.S., the Physician Payments Sunshine Act passed as part of the Affordable Care Act requires pharmaceutical companies to release details of payments to individual doctors and hospitals.
