Commonwealth Fund–supported researchers led by Zirui Song of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School explored whether Massachusetts' Alternative Quality Contract, which rewards physicians for improving patient care and holds them accountable for medical spending, mitigates health disparities experienced by disadvantaged populations. Their findings were reported in Health Affairs (Jan. 2017).
