While Republicans and Democrats have different priorities when it comes to health care, there seems to be at least one issue on which both sides agree: the importance of reducing health care costs for individuals, employers, and government. In the latest American Journal of Public Health, a research team led by Christina Pagel, 2016–17 Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy and Practice, reports findings from their survey of state legislators, who were asked to prioritize a list of 13 health policy goals developed with input from a bipartisan group of policymakers. For both Republican and Democratic legislators, reducing costs was among the items at the top of their lists.
