Low Birth Weight Rates Fall After Nationwide Café Smoking Ban

Since the introduction of a smoking ban in restaurants and cafes in July 2008, the Netherlands has seen a reduction in the number of children born with low birth weights and fewer extremely premature births, researchers at the Erasmus Medical Centre have found. There was also a drop in the number of mothers who smoked during their pregnancies and in the number of people smoking at home.
